As someone who's trained in statistical analysis, this has been bothering me for a while. We have all these national polls: CBS, NBC, Rasmussen, etc. And a lot of these polls ask interesting questions about deeper issues in voting patterns: Do Obama's personal connections worry you? Do you believe McCain will shake up Washington?
So why is it that pollsters only report the bare minimum - descriptive statistics - instead of performing real statistical analysis (or even reporting more interesting marginals) that might tell us something worth hearing?
